About half an hour drive from the Old Farmhouse is the well known waterfall Seljalandsfoss and that one can be seen from Road 1. Close by Seljalandsfoss is another waterfall a lot less known and well hidden. It is called Gljúfrabúi. The name means “ The dweller in the Gorge”. Not many knew about this waterfall until a few years ago and tourists are still visiting Seljalandsfoss without knowing or noticing this unique gem. Glúfrabui is 40 meters high, and falls down in a gorge or a cave with a hole at the top. The only entrance into the gorge is through a stream. It is possible to step through the stream on stones, but you better keep a good balance not to slip into the water. Best is to wear good waterproof boots and even wear a rain coat or a jacket for the dizzle which heavily comes from the waterfall. In the gorge is a big stone in front of the waterfall which is fun to climb up for the best view and have one or two photos shot of you.
